About Watches And Reviews

Here at Watches And Reviews we try to keep the reviews informative and concise. If you are like us, you want the information fast, with a bit of depth on the watch being reviewed. Specifically, specifications and dimensions, along with some pros and considerations. We feel this should be covered in all good watch blog reviews, which often is not. There will always be reviews on dive, pilot, racing, tool, Swiss, and Japanese watches. Please see the Watch Review section for all of past reviewed time pieces. Helpful Watch Buying Advice

  1.   If buying off of a private seller or on auction sites, buy the seller first and the watch second.

  2.   Know your expected discount range prior to purchasing from an AD (Authorized Dealer).

  3.   There are very few watches that will not see a discount off of MSRP. For example there might     be a 1-3 year waiting list on a SS Rolex Daytona, so do not expect a discount. The gray market will give you an idea of what to expect from your AD. Do not anticipate them to match it, but it is a good reference point.

  4. If purchasing the watch from an authorized dealer, consider buying it out of state or on vacation as they know this will be likely the only time to sell you a watch. This opens up the “negotiation highway” a lot easier, making for a better “let’s make a deal” scenario.

  5.   Buying from the gray market (used/new watch from non-AD), check them out on the BBB. Make sure the serial numbers are intact and not scratched off the watch. We recommend buying from a seller that includes all boxes/papers, even the warranty card though it probably will not be stamped. Should there ever need to sell, this will help fetch a higher sale price.

  6.   Do not settle on watch because it is a good deal. It will not satisfy the “itch” for long and may cost your more in the long run when you end up buying the one you really wanted to begin with.

  7.   If buying from a non-AD and the deal is to good to by true, it probably is just that. Do not buy with emotion, being rational goes a long way.
